Stop 18 · Boca Raton

The Boca Raton

Addison Mizner's 1926 Cloister Inn — the 100-room Mediterranean Revival hotel he built on the shore of Lake Boca Raton to house prospective land buyers, and the founding piece of what became the Gold Coast's grandest resort. The pink-stucco Tower rose in 1969; the original Cloister was repainted white during the $200M restoration completed January 2023 under MSD Partners and Northview Hotel Group, when the property dropped "Resort & Club" and became simply The Boca Raton. Two hundred lake- and oceanfront acres, still gated, still private — members and overnight guests only. Best appreciated from Camino Real, where Mizner's arches and bell tower read even at 25 mph.

What to order
Not a stop — a slow roll-by. Take Camino Real east from Federal Highway and you'll pass the main gate at 501; the Cloister and pink Tower rise above the coconut palms just inside. Do not attempt to enter the grounds unless you are a booked guest.
Hours
Private, gated resort — no public access · exterior visible from Camino Real anytime
