Naples Pier
The original 600-foot pier opened in 1888 — one of Florida's oldest, built as a freight and passenger dock when Naples had no road in. It's been rebuilt seven times through hurricanes, fires, and shipworms, and each rebuild kept the same postcard silhouette pointing straight into the sunset. Hurricane Ian tore off roughly 460 feet in September 2022, including the T-head shelter that sat at the end. The city broke ground on the seventh reconstruction in January 2026 — a $26.3M project with hardened pilings and elevated deck. Ride past for the story; the pier itself is a construction site until 2027.
- What to order
- Skip the pier deck entirely — it's fenced off. Best move is to park at 12th Ave S beach access, walk the sand to sunset, and shoot the rebuild in progress from the north side.
- Hours
- CLOSED — full rebuild in progress; reopening targeted 2027 · beach access on either side remains open
