Fisheating Creek Outpost

Outfitter

One of the last free-flowing tributaries into Lake Okeechobee — a cypress-swamp creek that runs wild through Fisheating Creek Wildlife Management Area. The Outpost on US-27 is a real base camp: 48 RV sites, 68 tent sites (many right on the water), a cabin, a store, and a fleet of 80 canoes, kayaks, and SUPs. Paddles range from a one-hour out-and-back to a 16-mile wilderness run. This is the Florida that was.

What to order
Rent a kayak, canoe, or SUP from the fleet of 80 — pick your trip length. The classic is a half-day out-and-back; they'll launch you for a full 16-mile wilderness run if you want. Overnight if you can swing it — creek-side tent sites are the good ones.
Hours
Grounds and creek access 24/7. Office, rentals, and camp check-in have their own hours — call (863) 675-5999 to book a paddle or reserve a site. Check-in from 3p, check-out by 1p.
